About the trip

To get a panoramic view of the Himalayan range, right from from Cho Oyo to Kanchenjunga, one has to experience one of the oldest trekking routes in India. The Singalila Range is one of the rare spots on earth where the view comprises of five summits rising above 8000ms. Amongst them are the Everest, Makalu and Lhotse.

Cost Inclusive of

1.    All road transfers by private vehicles from Bagdogra to Bagdogra.
2.    Accommodation will be provided throughout the trip as mentioned in the itinerary on twin sharing basis.
3.    Meals: As per itinerary. Tea /coffee, snacks & drinking water during the trek. All meals would be vegetarian. The cuisine would be a mix of Indian, Chinese, Continental & Local.
4.    English speaking & professionally trained mountain guide.
5.    Kitchen staff would accompany the group on the trek.
6.    Porters / Mules will carry one bag per client ( not to exceed 20 Kgs)
7.    Camping equipment: 3/4 season tents (Mountain Hardwear, Black Diamond or similar), sleeping bags, ground mattress, mess tent & camping tables & stools.
8.    All trekking permits and park entry fees.

Itinerary


Day 1.   
Arrive at Bagdogra(India) or Bhadrapur(Nepal) airport. Meet on arrival by our Staff and transfer to Darjeeling after Permit formalities. Stay overnight in Darjeeling. 
 
Day 2.    Tiger hill Sunrise Tour:
Tiger hill Sunrise Tour at 4 am to 7.30 in the morning, Have breakfast and continue to Darjeeling Sightseeing after 9 to 12 .30 pm, Return for lunch and Afternoon Free for Stroll in the Mall.. 
 
Day 3.    Darjeeling -Manebhanjang - Tumling (near Tonglu).
 The trek starts after an early morning drive of about two hours from Darjeeling to Manebhanjang a small village inhabited by Buddhist Sherpas. From here one can get a view of the trekking route, which is an awesome, near vertical climb. The first camp - site is at Tumling at 3070 meters, which is 11 km from Manebhanjang through dense forests, and hillsides covered with wild flowers and a breathtaking mountain view of the incomparable Kanchendzonga and its neighboring peaks.  Even though Tumling is located in Nepal, there are no visa formalities needed..We stay here at a home stay . There is electricity here (solar power) ,so you can charge your camera batteries here.
 
Day 4.    Tumling -Gairibas -Kalipokhari :
Resume Trekking from Tumling to Gairibas at 2621 meters, Trek time 3 hrs, Approx.09 kms. The trail leads you through bamboo glades and farmlands with quaint little villages inhabited by warm and friendly people. Gairibas to Kalipokhari at 3170 meters is a continuous climb through the rhododendron forests. Distance is 6 km and it takes 3 hrs walks from Gairibas.  Halt Overnight at Kalipokhari. 
 
Day 5.    Kalipokhari - Sandakphu :
Resume trekking from Kalipokhari to Sandakphu. From Kalipokhari the road descends to Bikhebhangang -Valley of Poison. Trek from Bikhebhanjang to Sandakphu is a steep climb of 4 kms and takes more then an hour to cover this trek. Trek time 2-3 hrs. Sandakphu 3636 meter is 58 kms from Darjeeling and commands one of the most spectacular views .In the foreground is a great basin set in the midst of the hills, the slopes covered with rhododendrons and silver fir trees.

In the background is continuous barrier of snowy mountains, the most prominent which is Kanchenjunga (8598 m) towering up in gigantic height and breadth with it's attendant peaks Kabru (7338 m), Jano (Khumbhakarna - 7710 m) and Pandim (6691 m) clustering closely around it. Far off to the west, about 160 km among a group of other snowy mountain rising from graceful peaks of Everest group, the crest of Mt. Makalu can be seen The contrast between Everest and Kanchanjunga is remarkable.
 
Day 6.    Sandakphu - Phalut: 
Resume trekking from Sandakphu to Phalut at 3600 meters. It is one of the loftiest peaks in the Singalila Range and is situated at 80 kms .The stretch from Sandakphu to Phalut is the most spectacular part of the trek. The burned silver fir forest makes a beautiful sight. After a walk of 4 hrs from Sandakphu, you will come across a stone house with a blown off roof on the top of a small ridge. The place is known as Sabarkum and is 14 km from Sandakphu. Overnight halt at Phalut.
Phalut or Falut (3600 m) is the second highest peak of West Bengal, India. Part of the Singalila Ridge in the Himalayas it is located at the border of the Indian states of West Bengal and Sikkim and the country of Nepal. It is located inside the Singalila National Park .A small bunkhouse near the top of the peak is administered by the Indian army. Singalila pass is 17 km apart from Phalut. This route enters into Sikkim, and divides into two part, first goes towards the Dzongri top and second one towards the Utterey.
The indigenous tribes surrounding the mountain peak are known as Falutians by outsiders. Falutians have a 300 year history of worshipping the mountain peak, and believe that Falut is an omniscient god. They refer to the mountain peak as "Omna Re Ay".
 
Day 7.    Phalut - Ramam :
Resume trekking from Phalut to Rama. From Phalut the trail descends through the virgin forest of chestnut, pines, hemlock etc. till it reaches the meeting of two streams; Gorkhey & Khola. It's a picture postcard place. One can enjoy the bath and savor a midday meal. Resume trekking via Samandin to Ramam Trekkers Hut. It’s about 5 hours or 15-km. in distance from Phalut. 
 
Day 8.    Ramam - Rimbik Trek:
 From Ramam the road is almost a level walk for the first 9 km and then it descends to Sirikhola. The road rises steep, for about 1 km where it levels out again till it reaches Rimbik. Halt Overnight in a lodge or trekkers hut.  
 
Day 9.    Rimbik – Darjeeling
Drive from Rimbik to Darjeeling, Approx.4-5 hrs for 54 kms.  Trek ends. 
 
Day 10.    Darjeeling to IXB/Bhadrapur Airport. Return drive to IXB/Bhadrapur for Flight to onward journey.
