Capture expressions of joy and contentment of living life in its simplest form at a time & place where you’ll find your heart so close to your lens!
We negotiate the hilly terrains and districts to experience the sublime cultural fusion of 16 tribes coming together at the Hornbill Festival, creating nothing short of megalomania!

Itinerary

Day 01:  We arrive in Johrat on 30th November to settle in and get set for the next 9 days. Cabs will be sent according to flight timings or train, depending when you are arriving. Let us know if you are coming in early – we can book a place for you at a separate cost!
Flights into Johrat – These are available from all major cities. Most of them are stop-overs at Kolkata. The first introductory session on SLR photography, in the evening will roll us in for the next week!

Day 02: We traverse through diverse districts of Nagaland in 9 days. The first stop is at Moponchuket Village.
7 typical Naga cottages become our home for the day. Don’t expect many a comfort but plenty of hospitality from this small, cut-off village who have agreed to open their homes for us.
After a sumptuous Naga lunch, we head out for a guided field session on handling light and end the day with some cultural programmes exclusively for us.

Day 03: The Aizuto Village maybe the quietest place that you may have ever seen! The Anderson Theological College and Heritage Cottages lend a further quaint feel to this extraordinary village. A great place for two days of complete immersion in photography with composition and framing to complete the basics. Field Exercises & Detailed Review Sessions will leave you more confident to click the Hornbill Festival.
Bonfire dinners and cultural programmes add to the charm!

Day 04: spend another day in Aizuto. Invite yourself for cups of tea or just hike through small trails in the village. A day to soak in the unassuming village.

Day 05: With a quick swing by at Wokha, our next stop becomes the tourist village of Touphema. A village where an old museum still stands testimony to the World War II events gives us an insight into the foregone struggle even for a place which was so removed from the political centres.
We close the day with the review session on your photographs from the previous day.

Day 06:  We finally head to the Kisama Village, the venue for the Hornbill Festivals to catch the tribes in the thick of the performances. A heritage village, this is also home to a WWII cemetery where many a revered British army officers lie. This was the exact spot where the Japanese invasion was obstructed by the British army. The UK government still provides aid for the cemetery to be run.
Little tricks on the camera and the experience of the night market to add to your photography experience....

Day 07: Submerge yourself in one of the greatest photography opportunities on this day! The 16 tribes of Nagaland will be in the thick of celebrations at this point of time... Every moment is sure to be priceless! The day will encompass only field sessions at the festival....

Day 08: another day to get some fantastic pictures of the colourful tribes and dunk in some local Zutho. Feel brave for a maggot flavoured one? Tell us how was it..

Day 09:  After 2 days of revelry & lots of rice beer, it’s time to sober up... we head to another magnificently removed location- the village of Khonoma. Great for a mild trek, we will end the day with a last review session and a cultural programme.

Day 10: Transfer from Khonoma to Dimapur for you to catch your flights/ trains. Please ensure that your tickets are done with care (Arrival in Johrat but departure from Dimapur). We will drop you at the airport/train station.
