About the trip

Bandipur Safari Lodge is located halfway down the Mysore-Ooty road adjacent to the world-renowned Bandipur National Park. The mountain breeze flowing down the vales of the picturesque Nilgiris invites you to this perfect backdrop for a wildlife safari. Nestling in the foothills of the Nilgiris, the Bandipur National Park was formed by extending the Venugopal Wildlife Park, set up in 1931 by the Mysore Maharajas. It is now one of the tiger reserves in the country. It also forms a part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, which is the one of the last refuges of endangered Asiatic wild elephants. Enjoy your trip into the wild!

Itinerary

Day 1
Arrive from Bangalore to inhale the freshness of tree-clad hills as you check-in. After relaxing for some, get ready for your first tryst with the jungle. Naturalists take you in jeep to the jungle. Along the ups and downs of the forest paths, encounter herds of elephants, watch out for the packs of wild dogs or a tiger on the prowl. Learn about the laws of the jungle through others’ experiences with a film show. The cosy camp fire adds to the charm.

Day 2:
Don’t miss any opportunity to be in the wild. Go on a guided trek with a naturalist down to the Moyar Gorge  or go on a safari into the hinterland of the park before tuning into the peaceful environs for the rest of the day. Its back to the jungle later in the day!

Day 3:  Earlier you wake up, more the chances of spotting animals. Explore a different part of the jungle this morning - Gopalaswamy Hill ! Time to check out after lunch.
