Ist Sunday Rides!

"Wandering one gathers honey" someone once said, and I recall! And wander I do, most Sundays astride my 22-year ol' faithful Yamaha RD350 exploring the remote, outback jungle, bushland areas surrounding the other 'concrete' jungle a.k.a Bangalore city! The remote, lesser traveled routes traversing the mind blowingly scenic and sometimes un-exploited villages and towns, un-spoilt avenues amidst our great big nation's vastness are something that is to be seen to be believed and 'absorbed'! The golden sunrise out there, the aroma of forests so green, the smell of smoke off burning firewood, the sight of li'l rural folks and their unkempt kids basking in the warm sunshine and the wide eyed wonder writ large on their faces on having an 'alien' looking creature (me!) amidst them from out of the dust and blue -with helmet, jacket, goggles, gloves et al!- sure makes a wonderful sight compared to the 'painted' and ever-so-pretending faces of the city folks we see here in the 9-to-5, gizmo equipped 'rat-race' and in pursuit of their dreams, wealth and name & fame albeit it's a wild goose chase at the end! Seldom do such city dwellers indulge in venturing out into the wild countryside, taking a walk, a trek, a drive or a ride!

Then, this big idea flashed! Why not let more of fellow motorcyclists, biker buddies, wild fellows, wanderlust cowboys.....and Indians all tag along and ride their 'big-bore' motorcycles along those routes as a bunch and share the joys and sights and times?! Why not, someone quipped and..!!

Bingo!......so the 1st Sunday Rides was 'born', courtesy ' getoffurass ', and the concept was rather appealing 'cause well,.first is the best, always! And being the 'first' nobody will be broke (financially!) too, sure! And 'first' always precedes the 'second'!! And what better way than to ride along into the blue-yonder with like minded people, some of whom are overtly passionate about their machines, and take pride in cleaning, maintaining and owning their strides! Some of them always wanted to 'ride' but never dared venture out alone! Some always contemplated riding starting t'morrow but 'that' t'morrow never came! Some didn't know which direction to head-for? Some always wanted to but never had the motivation a.k.a like a cigarette lighter where-in the 'spirit is willing but the spark is weak'! These are the very sect of individuals nay motorcyclists we now target for these 1st Sunday Rides, 1-ride every month, 12-rides in a calendar year..or even more!
