A few days in Paradise...

Eagerly stepping off the train at Londa with the sunshine on my face and the smell of fresh air, it was good to escape the city. Forty minutes and a long winding road later I arrived at Hornbill Resorts in Ganeshgudi, perfectly situated next to the spectacular river Kali and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. After being shown a number of beautiful, individually designed rooms (two of which are situated in trees!) I opted for one of the "cottages" and was pleasantly surprised to find that despite being in the jungle all modern amenities were provided; flushing toilets, warm showers, ceiling fans and everything was spotlessly clean.

It seems the fairly remote location does not prevent the best of cuisine being served and over the three days I was treated to a delicious selection of dishes, all freshly prepared by the three chefs and served in the outside dining room with a wonderful view of the river.

The resort is brilliant for those wanting to surround themselves with nature and take a break from the hectic daily pace of life. There are several scenic walks on which you can spot masses of wildlife, including the famous "Hornbills" and for the slightly more adventurous visitor there is rafting, rock climbing and a safari trip, all of which are situated nearby.

The welcoming atmosphere, picturesque location and fantastic food all make this an excellent abode from which to enjoy a secluded, unspoilt and very special part of Karnataka.
