Kapila is a jungle retreat located on the banks of the Kabini River . This region, which is the south-western edge of Nagarhole National Park and the north-eastern edge of the Bandipur Tiger Reserve is famous for its high density of prey and predator species, alike.
Nagarhole and Bandipur national parks are among the best tiger reserves in south India . Spread over 1500 sq km, it is a mix of tropical moist and dry deciduous forest with open grass patches called hadlus. It is home to several large mammals like the elephants, tiger, leopard, wild dogs, gaur, sambhar, chital and over 250 species of birds.
Kabini River flows through the heart of both these national parks. With construction of the Kabini Dam and formation of the Kabini reservoir it has become an important and perennial water source to many animals of both the parks. The largest congregation of the Asiatic elephants can be witnessed along the backwaters of kabini in the dry months of summer.
Kapila located on the banks of the Kabini backwaters is an ideal wildlife retreat to explore the backwaters and Kabini side of Nagarhole National Park . During the summer a drive through the forest or a boat ride is fascinating. Elephants and other species congregate here for water and food.
There are twin rooms that are well furnished and fresh. The views of the backwaters from the verandah of the bungalows are pristine.
The property is well equipped to handle wildlife travelers which is the focus. But if you are looking to put your feet up and relax you will not be let down. You can absorb the tranquil, pristine, peaceful outdoors and just unwind.
