Photography On The Move

Photography on the move workshop is a combination of learning how to shoot well and explore possibilities with the camera when "on the move". It is for those who are diehard travelers, those who turn a head at the simplest opportunity to compose magic of light, people, culture, life and earth in a frame that speaks to the world filled with strangers.
For the passionate, it will be an addiction. With likeminded strangers, it is a journey through, openness of the road, wilderness, villages, and people, all with definite cultures. We hope to trigger a passion within you to make compelling stories through images. Forest, wildlife, culture, food, journey, ruins, ethnic people, and nature will be your subjects - it is a promising learning experience, which will expand the horizons of not just photography.
Making or capturing beautiful images can be learnt at home and books but it is the on-field experience with real people that teach you how to build a real compellingly inspiring story.
Of course, you will learn how to take better pictures, how to compose your shots better and how to build your stories better but that’s a given out of any photography workshop, isn’t it?
But here at photographyonthemove" you will have to work 24 hours non-stop, even while you are asleep, dreaming of your shot for next morning. Your fight will be against the Sun rising and setting, you will be taught to take your shots only through natural light, the best lighting for any photographer. You will learn not to blame the clouds if they come in between your shot, instead shoot them to see how they become part of your story. Simplistic approach will be the essence.
Alok Johri will travel this special journey with you guiding you at every step. There will be no limitations, no compulsions. You will have the freedom to take a detour. You will take that call to make the best of Alok's knowledge and share your stories without inhibitions. You will make the choice to observe fellow photographers to compete and get your best shot. Beginning to end will be a classroom - one Alok Johri and ten participants to use his time. You will be guided to follow your instincts and at the same time listen to tips Alok has in store for you.
We welcome you to the outdoors to take it within.
Course content will be shared when you hit the field. What may apply to one location, may not apply to other. This will help you design your own pattern, next time when you hit a new destination.
What you need to carry:
- A Digital camera (aim-n-shoot or SLR) of any make/brand with at least 1GB card, pls ensure your camera has the option to put the flash off.
- All the cables, chargers and adaptors required
- Extra Memory card and battery – optional
- Tripod or Monopod – optional since it can be extra weight to carry around
- Laptop to download images - optional.
- Image download and storage device - optional
- Photoshop (any version) installed on your laptop, if you are carrying a laptop.
- Camera manual booklet
- Pocket notebook with a pen
- Large Garbage Plastic bag to protect your equipments from the rain/moisture.
What Alok’s Field-Trip-Kit Carries:
- One Nikon D-80 with 18-200 mm lens with two 1 GB cards
- 1 Nikon cool Pix S-200 with one 1 GB card
- All the required cables, chargers and adaptors
- Mac Book with Photoshop CS3 installed
- Notebook + Pen
- Large Garbage Plastic Bag
Note: Pls keep in mind that Alok has always used Nikon, therefore any technical help on this brand is not an issue, but for others, you may have to carry the camera manual notebook for SOS. Alok will be able to help you use the features in any brand of camera since basics remain same.
